It seems that there are certain parts of the journey that require more than just the normal plan to be able to get us to the next level. Sometimes it is more practice, sometimes a new technique, and sometimes it just takes bravery to get there.
After being on our journey for many years we learn that our best experiences come when we plan ahead. For sure we need to have inspired and spontaneous adventures from time to time but for the optimal journey planning adventures is essential.
Heading into 2020 I've been doing some soul searching into ways that I can elevate my running for the upcoming race season, and one of the answers I've come to is to start making friends with discomfort.
We all know that the responsibility for staying true to our commitments, our goals, and our journey rests on our shoulders. And we take this on will full energy and enthusiasm.
We can get so good at what we do while on our journey that we can potentially lose our desire to do something different. We know that the way to get to a level of fulfillment is by pushing ourselves into places unknown, being curious, trying and failing and then doing it again.
Life and our journey feel more real, more vibrant, more vivid and compelling when we have challenges that we are working on. There is a fear, an anticipation, a commitment and a reality that we have to embrace when that challenge is, what we would call “big”.
