When we become students of our craft we find out that there are really three main themes that affect how well we are going to perform in an athletic event whether we are beginners or top athletes. We need the proper technique, we need a well-conceived training plan and we need the mental toughness to push hard when we want to take it to the next level. The interesting part of this is that the technique and the plan are equally available to all who compete and as such, they are effectively neutralizing factors. What is different is the mental game that we bring to the discipline that we compete in. There is no cost to bring a positive mental attitude to what we do, it is just a choice, and it is a big choice that makes all the difference in the world affecting our results directly. So, let’s first start with the belief that we can do what we are setting out to do. And then let’s focus our mindset such that it is full of positive belief, AKA our secret weapon. When we do, we make sure that we leverage what is between our ears to get the most out of our technique and our practice. Great results here we come!
