We know that as each day passes, we either make progress on our journey or not. And with the time-starved and interrupt-driven lives that we seem to have evolved to there is risk along the way that we will not accomplish all that we set out to do. We know what is important and so it is, therefore, not as much about the goals as it is about making sure that we reinforce what our priorities are, that we find a way to commit to them, to follow through, to measure, and then reflect. We can do this with simple systems like to-do lists and reminders and by being clear about what it is we “must” do. We can have a mix that makes it more interesting and rewarding such as nutrition, exercise, learning, meditation, gratitude, fellowship, celebration, charity, and more. With our list and an understanding of the benefits that each of our areas of focus brings we can start the year on solid footing. The list becomes a place that we can always go back to throughout the year. A way to know if we are making progress and what we need to do to maximize the journey. We are all capable, we just need to get to it and then stick to it. 2020 is here for the taking, let’s start it off right and make it the best yet!
